While many thought blogging was a passing fad, it's now obvious that blogging is a practice that is here to stay as a powerful Web 2.0 marketing and traffic-generation toolset - and marketers are definitely profiting from their blogging efforts. Blogs are especially attractive to Internet marketers, for a variety of reasons.

First, installing and operating a blog is very simple. There is no need to learn HTML, and you can have a blog set up and operating in a matter of minutes. For popular blog software, such as WordPress, there are numerous templates available all over the Internet to help you make your blog attractive. And most professional hosting sites offer almost instant WordPress installation through Fantastico in your cPanel options.

You can blog even if you don't have your own website, by using a hosted blog such as that found at Blogger. However, you should ideally set your blog up on its own domain, with a professional domain name and webhosting.

Blogs are especially important for search engine optimization purposes. When you add a blog post to your blog, simply include a link or two to your main website that your blog pertains to - over time link to both the homepage and at least a few of the main interior pages of the site. This adds inbound links for your website, and may help to boost your rankings in the search engines. Be sure your blog template includes an appropriate robots meta-tag or use a 'Do Follow' blog plug-in though, or you may be wasting your time.

The important thing about marketing blogging is that you provide content that is of interest to your niche - not to the industry that your niche is in. You must stay tightly focused on your niches' concerns, problems, and desires and ignore the rest of the market as a whole. You can't please the entire market, and that isn't what you are trying to accomplish anyway.

If you have various areas or sites to promote that aren't tightly targeted to that same niche, set up a separate blog for each one. For example, an Internet marketer may have one blog for mainstream marketing, one for affiliate marketing, one for niche marketing, etc. Or an Internet marketer targeting the golf niche, as another example, might have one blog that discusses golf swings and how to improve them, one on golfing equipment, and a third that discusses and rates golf courses around the world.

Always keep in mind that the more tightly focused the blog, the tighter the targeting of the traffic it attracts - and highly-targeted traffic is the lifeblood of your sales process and list-building online. In the previous example, all 3 blogs might lead to the same web site - but one would lead to the page where you're selling golf instruction videos and e-books, the second to your section on golf equipment, and the third to a page promoting golf vacations and packages.

That same example shows how easily blogging can benefit affiliate marketers as well - each of those three blogs might send traffic to two or three links each, tightly targeted to that blog's subject matter. Yes, all 3 deal with golf, but by handling it correctly you could be tightly targeting 6 or 9 different affiliate opportunities within the golfing industry online.

It is also important that you blog daily, or several times per week at the very least. Don't worry about how many people are reading your blog. The more you update it, the more popular it can become in the blog directories and search engines. Over time, you should be able to build a good readership, and you will make sales to those people as time goes on. Add a sign-up form for your opt-in mailing list and you've created a really powerful marketing & profit center for yourself, one that can generate an ongoing influx of new traffic into your sales funnel.

To ensure you get maximum exposure for your blogs, use as many of the Web 2.0 services as you have time for. Use the 'auto-pinging' function built into WordPress to maximum advantage, list your blogs with services like Technorati and MyBlogLog, and use the online ping services like Pingoat and Ping-O-Matic to update even more directories each time you add another article (post) to your blogs.

Of all the Web 2.0 methods open to marketers, the combination of ease of use, low or no cost, and potential returns available makes blogging a must-have tool for Internet marketing, and it's especially well-suited to those just entering the field. In fact, we're seeing more and more fledgling Internet marketers beginning with, and sometimes staying exclusively with, blogging instead of traditional site building. Get YOUR Internet marketing blogging going today!

How Does Writing Enrich Yourself and Others?
By Herbert Young

We all write. Essays, term papers, grocery lists and business expense reports are part of our lives. Most Internet users write email and many blog. Many people even talk about writing a book.

When I talk to people about writing a book or tell people I am an author and publisher, typically some one will say;
"I would love to write a book" or "I am working on a book."

While many people talk about writing a book or eBook, only about 2% of the population ever does. Why do the majority of us contemplate writing a book but few of us actually do it?

Maybe part of the answer is reflected in two very common questions I am asked when I talk to people about writing. "What do I write about?" and "Where do I start?"

Why Write a book or eBook?

The answer is often difficult to pin down. Is it the notoriety of being a published author? Is it a get rich quick scheme (you do want to get rich don't you?). Is it because you want to make an impact on the world? Is it because you are an expert on the subject of your book? Is it because you want to let your family or friends know the real you? Do you just love to write? Maybe all of these are part of your why.

Try this exercise. Take out a sheet of paper, or better yet a journal, and pen. At the top of the page write:

I experience a feeling of exhilaration and deep joy when:

Spend the next 20 minutes completing this sentence. Write as much detail as you can. Don't worry about punctuation or proper grammer. Put down on paper what flows from your mind and heart. This will give you a sense of your passion and what to write about.

How Does Writing Enrich Myself and Others?

To know and understand ourselves, we need to know something about our ancestors. Much of human history is described by stories of families with several generations grouped together in tribes, sects or regions. It is this connection that helps to define us.

In reflecting on the books and ebooks that I have written, I think there are essentially two reasons to write. The foremost reason is to serve others. By sharing ourselves with friends, family and the world in general, we make our unique perspective, experiences and knowledge available to help others. The second reason is to leave a part of ourselves for our children and the next generation.

Besides being a means to share our knowledge and experience with others, writing can be a powerful tool to help us learn about ourselves.

What we feel
Why we feel what we do
What we believe
Why we believe as we do
How our feelings and beliefs affect our daily life and our dreams
Define our goals and plans
Discover our passions, strengths and weaknesses

The more we learn about ourselves, the more we are enriched. We enrich others by making our perspective available so they might see the world from a different point of view or experience a historical event through our thoughts, feelings and unique experience. This ensures that we provide opportunity for deeper understanding to the next generation that might result in equipping them to make wiser choices. Our children and grandchildren can begin to know us as human beings through our journals, articles, blogs, ebooks and books. We become part of the continuity of history.

How To Generate A Potentially Limitless Income
By Matt Duke

There are countless methods of generating income from the online world. You are in even greater luck if you aren't particularly pressed for a primary income. The shallow and short-lived financial boon experienced during the 1990s with online advertising made many fearful of any financial interests online. Yet as mankind has developed their capabilities with the World Wide Web, Internet businesses have also stabilized.

Consumers can now participate in completely proven and manageable methods of earning a secondary income and have the benefit of history on their side. Many companies that encourage link exchanging, affiliate exchanging and banner sales have years of esteem and reputation to provide legitimacy to the online business world.

If you aren't interested in working with the more technical activities for creating extra income, you still have many options. Online companies such as CafePress, SpreadShirt and Zazzle allow consumers to enjoy creating their own slogans and images. These companies allow individuals to upload their custom graphics or most catchy phrases and will put these items on nearly every household item in existence. The average consumer, as well as the small business or organization, can have custom tee-shirts, mouse pads, posters, calendars, stuffed animals and many other goods. The majority of such corporations also offer consumers free stores to place your wares in.

The best pieces of advice for using these companies is to evaluate them before agreeing to anything. Are the prices economical? Are you allowed to adjust your price to increase or decrease your own profit? Order an item or two after you have uploaded your customized material. Does the work appear to be professional quality?

These companies are ideal for hobbyists of any kind. Photographers, artists and even writers can benefit from the ease of selling works of art online. For the artistic adventurer, companies are available online where you create, design and publish your own full-length books into print. Many of these are free to design and publish. The production costs are deducted as a percentage from the proceeds of each book sold.

Another method of generating extra income is with online auction companies. You can clean out closets, attics and basements and sell these items to individuals worldwide. You may not have any use for the pile of old comic books gathering dust in your attic, but they may be worth a great deal to a professional collector. Many consumers are shocked to find the demand for items they had no idea were of value. Tips for using online auction companies are relatively simple. Make your titles clear and precise for your item. Describe it well in as few words as possible. Always use a good photograph of each item and keep the size within the requirements of your auction company.

When using an online auction company, use the services of an online financial transaction corporation. These allow your buyer to protect their sensitive financial data and will have services for you to prevent theft and help recover loss. When selecting such a company, always read their terms and don't agree if you don't feel the company is for you. Always be certain your account is free. The more reputable companies usually deduct a very small portion of each transaction instead of any monthly or yearly fees.

Blogging is another area in which people are generating extra income on a daily basis. A web log, or blog, is an online diary. Some bloggers utilize their service for personal feelings or interests and some turn their blogs into professional areas for information or even education.

The majority of consumers will need their own website and domain for an income-generating blog. Many standard free blog providers already have ads and banners in place to generate revenue for their company. With many of the free companies, blatantly selling products or posting your own ads is a violation of the terms and conditions.

There are also some tips to keep in mind if you intend on maintaining a professional blog. The first is to maintain quality content. Offer information and advice pertaining to one subject or theme and stick with the topic. Personal insight and information is acceptable as long as it's subtly added and doesn't overtake the whole blog.

A professional blog also means you will need to be consistent in posting. You can choose to post daily, weekly or even monthly. Regardless of your preferences, you will need to maintain a routine with your blog.

Generating revenue from your blog involves participating in banner or text advertising. With any luck and a steady readership, these links can give your visitors both a place to read about their favorite topics and a place to shop for the items that interest them. You will earn a commission and possibly referral bonuses depending upon your program.

A secondary income isn't only possible today. It's a likely venture if you're willing to invest the time and effort necessary.
